To find out, I compared Google Hotels with several popular hotel-booking and hotel-comparison websites, including MakeMyTrip, Booking.com, Skyscanner, Trivago, KAYAK, Agoda, OYO and Treebo. The factors considered are hotel prices, discounts and deals, search filters, hotel ratings, reviews, location and maps, cancellation options, payment facilities, amenities and other booking benefits. It is always better to compare the proven hotel booking websites to get the best discount in India.
So, is Google Hotels better than other hotel-booking sites? Instead of relying on general claims, let’s compare what I found and see which platform offers which features and benefits for different hotel-booking needs.
Actual Test: Comparing Hotels in Pune Across Different Websites
To find out how Google Hotels compares with other hotel-booking and hotel-comparison websites, I searched for hotels in Pune on different platforms. I compared the prices displayed, filters, location information, deals, cancellation options and other features available to travellers. The following are my observations from the test.
Sponsored Hotels
When searching for hotels in Pune, sponsored hotel listings may appear prominently. These listings show the hotel name, price, rating and other information.
In my search, the displayed prices ranged from approximately ₹1,841 for a FabHotel in Wakad to ₹20,000 for JW Marriott Hotel Pune.
The listings make it relatively easy to compare hotels according to price, location and ratings.

MakeMyTrip
MakeMyTrip provides a wide range of hotel-booking options and offers. Depending on the property and booking conditions, travellers may find coupon discounts, lower prices, early check-in and late check-out options, new-user discounts, flexible cancellation and Book at ₹0 options.
It also provides several filters to help travellers find a hotel according to their requirements.
The filters include price per night, star category, property type, popular locations, amenities, deals and offers, distance from landmarks, guest photographs, user ratings and reviews. Some properties may also offer options such as airport transfers.
These filters make it easier to narrow down a large number of hotels and find properties that match a traveller’s budget and preferences

Google Hotels
Google Hotels displayed three hotel options in my search, showing information such as hotel names, prices, amenities, deals and star ratings.
Google Maps was displayed alongside the hotel results, showing different hotels in different areas of Pune. The map also showed their locations, prices and surrounding roads. This makes it easier to identify hotels in a preferred area and compare their prices.
In my search, the displayed prices ranged from approximately ₹960 to ₹7,000.
When you click on a hotel in Google Hotels, you can be directed to different booking websites offering that property. The same hotel may be available from different providers at different prices. The hotel’s official website may also appear among the available booking options.
Google Hotels also provides other useful features, including sponsored hotel listings, price tracking, email alerts about price changes, similar hotels, hotel reviews, nearby places, Google review summaries, TripAdvisor reviews and photo galleries.
One important difference is that Google Hotels does not directly book the hotel. Instead, it helps travellers search, compare and find booking options before directing them to the relevant booking provider or hotel website.
Booking.com
Booking.com offers a large selection of hotels and other types of accommodation. Depending on the property, travellers can find deals and flexible booking options.
Its filters include free cancellation, no prepayment, booking without a credit card, budget range, amenities, accommodation type, meal plans, room facilities, property rating, neighbourhood, distance from the city centre, nearby landmarks, hotel brands and accessibility features.
Booking.com also offers member-only prices at selected properties. Its accommodation range extends from budget properties and dormitories to higher-rated hotels.
These detailed filters help travellers with specific requirements rather than just looking for the lowest price.
Skyscanner
Skyscanner compares hotel prices from multiple booking websites. It can help travellers compare different prices and deals and identify available booking options.
Its hotel search also provides filters to help narrow down the results according to factors such as price, traveller review score, star rating, discounts, room type, amenities, meal plans, neighbourhood, accommodation type, hotel chain and booking provider.
Like Google Hotels, Skyscanner can also display hotels on a map, allowing travellers to see their locations and prices in different areas of Pune.
This makes it useful for travellers who want to compare prices from different booking providers before choosing where to book.
Trivago
Trivago is another hotel price-comparison website. It compares hotel deals from multiple booking websites and allows travellers to compare different offers.
Hotels can be sorted or filtered according to factors such as price, location, hotel rating, proximity to the city centre and accommodation type.
This can be useful for travellers who want to compare prices from different providers rather than checking each booking website individually.
KAYAK
KAYAK also compares hotel prices from different booking websites, including providers such as Agoda, Booking.com and Expedia.
One useful feature is its map view, which shows hotels according to their location and prices. This helps travellers identify properties in their preferred area of Pune and compare prices.
KAYAK also provides filters for breakfast, reserve-now-pay-later options, payment types, fully refundable properties, property class, neighbourhood, hotel brands, amenities, traveller experience, meal plans, nearby attractions and accessibility.
It may also display deals, free breakfast and free-cancellation options depending on the property and booking conditions.
Treebo Hotels
Treebo’s website focuses on its own hotel properties and offers features such as a lowest-price guarantee, selected hotels from around ₹1,199, free breakfast at participating properties, free toiletries, free cancellation where available, Wi-Fi, air conditioning and parking.

OYO
OYO mainly offers budget and affordable accommodation, with properties in different categories and locations.
Depending on the property and offer, OYO may provide discounts, free cancellation and member benefits. In my search, some hotel prices started from approximately ₹559, although prices vary according to location, dates, property and availability. What the Comparison Shows
The comparison shows that no single platform is best for every hotel booking. Google Hotels stands out mainly as a hotel-search and comparison tool, while booking websites provide the actual reservation process and may have their own offers and booking conditions. Before booking the hotels, always check out which app gives the cheapest hotel booking in India. Because the hotel prices changes and there are ways to beat surge pricing.
Price-comparison platforms such as Skyscanner, Trivago and KAYAK provide another way to compare rates from different providers.
Overall, the right platform depends on the price, locations, filters available, cancellation terms and deals & discounts.

Google Hotels is especially better for quickly finding hotels, comparing prices, checking locations on Google Maps and seeing different booking options in one place. It can also show prices from online travel agencies and, in some cases, the hotel’s official website.
However, booking sites such as MakeMyTrip, Booking.com, Agoda, Goibibo, OYO and Treebo may offer their own discounts, coupons, member benefits, payment options and cancellation policies. Price-comparison sites such as Skyscanner, Trivago and KAYAK also provide alternatives for comparing hotel prices.
So, rather than relying on one platform, compare the final price, taxes, cancellation policy, breakfast, room type and payment conditions before booking.
