Chopta Tungnath Chandrashila Trek With Deoria Tal And Rohini Bugyal  

Chopta is a town in the Uttarakhand state of India. It is also known as “Mini Switzerland Of Uttarakhand”. Chopta is famous for Tungnath Trek, Chandrashila Trek, Meadows, Rohini Bugyals, Deoria Tal, Ukhimath, evergreen forest area, snow-capped mountains, and Kedarnath wildlife sanctuary. Chopta is a beautiful hill station picturesque hamlet unexplored by travelers. It is located at an altitude of 2900 meters.

Tungnath Trek

Tungnath trek from Chopta is one of the famous treks in the Uttarakhand state of India. You have to take a 3.5 km trek route to reach Tungnath from Chopta. There is a temple of God Shiva at Tungnath. It is one of the five Panch Kedar temples in the Rudraprayag district of Uttarakhand state of India. It is the highest Shiva temple in the world located at an elevation of 12073 feet. It is worshiping place. The Tungnath temple area receives heavy snowfall during the winter season and making Tungnath temple difficult.  The Tungnath range forms the Mandakini and Alaknanda river valleys.

Chandrashila “Moon Rock” Trek

Chandrashila trek from Chopta is one of the most popular treks in the Uttarakhand state of India. Chandrashila is a summit in Uttarakhand above the Tungnath temple. The meaning of Chandrashila is “Moon Rock”.  The height of the Chandrashila is 3690 meters from sea level. The trek distance of Chandrashila from Tungnath temple is 1.5 km.  Once you reached Tungnath from Chopta then Chandrashila is very near. The best time to visit Chandrashila is April to June. The trekking route from Chopta to Chandrashila is closed during winter due to heavy snowfall. The adventure tourist taking another route through Deoriatal.

Deoria Tal

Deoria Tal is a lake in the Uttarakhand state of India. The height of the Deoria Tal is 2438 meters. It is located at a distance of 3 km from the Sari village on the Ukhimath – Chopta road. The Deoria Tal is famous for its panoramic view. You can see the mountains of Chaukhamba, Nilkantha, Bandarpanch, Kedar Range, and kalanag from Deoria Tal.

The Deoria Tal trekking is famous in Uttarakhand. The route from Deoria Tal to Chandrashila is used for night camping and trekking. The best time to visit Deoria Tal is from March to April. Deoria Tal to Chandrashila trekking distance is 2.3 km. The distance of Deoria Tal to Chopta is 14 km.

Ukhimath Temple

Ukhimath is a small town in Rudraprayag district of Uttarakhand state of India. It is a Hindu pilgrimage center located at a height of 1311 meters from sea level. The temple is dedicated to Omkareshwar. It is famous for winter Chardham. It is also called Okhimath. The distance of Ukhimath from Rudraprayag is 41 km.

Rohini Bugyal – Meadow and Hiking Area in Uttarakhand

Rohini bugyal is a meadow located in the dense forest area of Chopta. It is 8 km from Sari village while trekking from Deoria Tal to Chandrashila. It is a group of bugyal. Rohini Bugyal is a beautiful untouched destination by visitors at a height of 400 meters from sea level. From there you can see the amazing views of Kedar peak and Kala Parbat peak.

Weather of Chopta

Chopta experiences the seasons of winter, summer, and monsoon. The winter season is from November to February. There is heavy snowfall during the winter season. The minimum average temperature reaches around – 4 Degree Celsius. It is advisable to carry woolen clothes with you. The monsoon season is from July to October.  Chopta experiences heavy rain during the monsoon season.   There is the possibility of road blocked due to the landslides on the road. But the scenic beauty of Chopta is worth it. The temperature during the monsoon season ranges between 6 to 25 degrees Celsius.

The best time to visit Chopta Is the summer season from March to May. The minimum average temperature is reaching 4 to 5 Degree Celsius and is pleasant. The valleys become beautiful with lush green and fertile in the summer season.

The nearest airport to Chopta is Jolly Grant Airport, Dehradun at a distance of 221 km. Jolly Grant airport is well connected to Dehli and major airports in India. Chopta is well connected to Dehradun by road. taxis and buses are available from Jolly Grant airport to Chopta.

The nearest railway station to Chopta is Dehradun. Dehradun is well connected to the Delhi railway station and other major railway stations in India.
