How long you stay depends on your travel style and what you want to prioritize. Where are you, backpackers, or family members, adventure lovers, find what id best for you.

Day 2 – Kovalam Beach
Only 13 km (30 minutes) from Trivandrum, Kovalam Beach is one of the most famous beaches in Kerala. Known for its three crescent-shaped beaches, shallow waters, and clean golden sand, it’s perfect for swimming and sunbathing.
Things to do:

Day 3 – Kanyakumari (Tamil Nadu)
Located approximately 90 km (3 hours) from Thiruvananthapuram, Kanyakumari is the southernmost tip of India, where the Arabian Sea, Bay of Bengal, and Indian Ocean converge.
It is not located in Kerala but near Kerala, and the majority of tourists cover Kanyakumari in a Kerala trip

Travel Tip: Book your houseboat in advance, especially during peak tourist season (November–February).
My experience: During my visit to Alappuzha, I booked a boat in the evening, so that experience the day and night with the backwater. In India, there is no better place than the Backwaters in Kerala.

Day 5 – Thekkady
A paradise for wildlife lovers, Thekkady in the Idukki district is home to Periyar Tiger Reserve and Periyar Lake.
Must-do activities:
- Boat ride on Periyar Lake to spot elephants, bison, and exotic birds.
- Visit a spice plantation.
- Elephant rides at local farms.
Distance: Alappuzha to Thekkady – 137 km.
Tip – Kumily near Thekkady is the market for Kerala spices, dry fruits, and banana chips.
It is also the best place for your stay as Thekkady has lass options of accommodations.
Day 6 – Munnar
A hill station set at 1,600 meters above sea level, Munnar is famous for its tea plantations, misty hills, and pleasant climate.
Top attractions:
- Eravikulam National Park – Home to the endangered Nilgiri Tahr.
- Mattupetty Dam – A scenic picnic spot.
- Tata Tea Museum – Learn about tea production.
- Waterfalls – Attukad and Lakkam Falls.
Distance: Thekkady to Munnar – 85 km.
Tips – Munnar is comparable to Darjeeling of West Bengal for tea plantations. Looking very green and beautiful

Day 7 – Kochi (Cochin)
A vibrant port city blending history, culture, and scenic beauty.

Day 8 – Guruvayur
One of India’s most important pilgrimage sites, Guruvayur Temple is dedicated to Lord Krishna.
Note: Traditional dress code is mandatory (men – dhoti/lungi, women – saree/salwar). Expect long queues, especially during festivals.
Day 9 – Varkala Beach
Known for its stunning cliff views, golden sands, and black sand patches, Varkala Beach (Papanasam Beach) is also considered spiritually significant. Varkala has many other places to visit.
