Lidder River

The Lidder River flows through Pahalgam located in the Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory of India at an elevation of 4653 meters. The length of the Lidder River is 73 km. It originates from the Kolahoi glacier near Sonmarg and fees the Jhelum River.  It runs through the meadows of Lidderwat in the region of Aru valley. The Lidder River has two tributaries Lidder east-flowing from Sheshnag Lake and Lidder west-flowing from Kolahoi glacier. River rafting in the Lidder River from Longanbal Bridge and Ganesh Pura (8km) is a top tourist attraction.

Lolab Valley

Lolab valley is a valley located in the Kupwada district of Jammu and Kashmir, India. The meaning of Lolab is the Land of Love and beauty. The entrance of the Lolab valley is 9 km to the east of Kupwada. The distance of Lolab valley from Srinagar is 114 km. The length of the Lolab valley is 24 km and its height of 5464 feet. The Lolab Valley is formed by the Lahwal River. The valley is surrounded by snow-capped mountains, lush green meadows, and a misty valley. During the winter season some of the roads connecting to Lolab Valley get blocked due to heavy snowfall.

Aru Valley

Aru Valley is a valley in the Ananthnag district of Jammu and Kashmir state of India. The height of the Aru valley is 2411 meters from sea level. Aru valley is a famous tourist spot located at a distance of 12 km from Pahalgam and 11 km upstream from Lidder River. The valley had beautiful meadows, snow-capped mountains, and lakes.  It is a base camp for trekking to Kolhoi Glacier and Tarsar Lake.    It is famous among tourists for its scenic beauty and peaceful atmosphere. You have to pay Indian Rupees 25 as an entry fee to the Aru valley. December to February is the best time to visit Aru valley for skiing lovers. During the winter season, the temperature of Aru valley ranges from -5 to -12 degrees Celsius.

Betab Valley

Betab Valley is also known as Hajan valley located in the Anantnag district 15 km from Pahalgam. The Betab valley is named after the movie Betab in which the main role was played by Sunny Deol and Amrita Singh. The shooting of the Betab movie was completed there. To enter into the Betab valley entry fee of Rs 100/ is required. Betab Valle is covered with full of snow in winter. The winter season and summer seasons are the best time to visit Betab valley.

Dabyan valley

Dabyan valley is located in Pahalgam. Dabyan valley is a meadow at the top of the mountains. It is a place must include in your itinerary. The valley is covered with snow and is the best place for ice skating and waterfalls. Dabyan valley, Kashmir valley, and Baisaran valley can be covered in one trip. The time required to cover three valises is approximately 3 hours.

Deno Valley

Deno valley is situated on the top of the mountain. You can reach Deno valley by pony ride. Deno valley next to Baisaran valley.

Tulian Lake

Tulian Lake is a lake in Anantnag district near Pahalgam in the Union territory of Jammu and Kashmir, India. It is high altitude lake located at a height of 3684 meters. Tulian lake is 16 km from Pahalgam. The trek from Pahalgam to Tulian lake is very popular among trek lovers. The length of the trek is 48 km. The lake is frozen during the winter season from November to February. The best way to reach Tulian Lake is by pony ride or by hiking/trekking as vehicles do not go there.

Sheshnag Lake

Sheshnag lake is high altitude oligotrophic lake situated at the track leading to Amarnath caves. It is located at a distance of 23 km from Pahalgam in the Ananthnag district of Jammu and Kashmir, India. The height of the Sheshnag Lake is 3590meters. Its length is 1.1 km and its width is .70 km. The lake is named after the Sheshnag – a divine serpent of the Hindu Religion.  A trek from Sheshnag Lake to Pahalgam is a famous tourist attraction. Sheshnag lake freezes during the winter season and is inaccessible due to heavy snowfall. It is said that Lord Shiva left the snake in this place while talking about the secret of eternal life with Parvati.

Chandanwari

Chandanwari is a neighborhood in Pahalgam. Chandanwari is the starting point for the famous annual pilgrimage Amarnath Yatra. It is situated at an altitude of 2895 meters. The distance between Chandanwari and Pahalgam is 16 km. Chandanwari remains closed during the winter season as there are heavy snowfall and road are blocked. It has snow-capped mountains, and the Lidder river flows closely.

Golf course

Pahalgam golf course is an 18-hole golf course surrounded by snow-capped mountains. It is located at a distance of 3 km from Srinagar. The height of the golf course is 2400 meters from sea level. It is one of the highest golf courses in the world. The entry fee of Rs. 150/ is required to enter the Golf Course.

Weather In Pahalgam

The Pahalgam is covered by snow during the winter season whereas idyllic meadows during the summer season. During the summer season temperature ranges between 11 to 25 Degree Celsius. The atmosphere is pleasant during the summer season. During the winter season temperature ranges between 0 to 10 Degree Celsius. The Winter season from November to January is the snowfall season in Pahalgam. July to September is the monsoon season in Pahalgam. The famous Amarnath Yatra is happening in the monsoon season.  

Best Time To Visit Pahalgam

The best time to visit Pahalgam is from March to June. This is the summer season in Pahalgam. The weather during the summer season is pleasant as compared to other seasons.
