How To Go To Havelock Island

Havelock Island can be reached from Portblair or Neil island by Government-operated ferries or private cruises. The local buses or taxis or cab connects the jetty.   The private cruises that sail from Portblair or Neil Island to Havelock are Makruzz, Sea Link, ITT Majestic, and Green Ocean. These cruises have different schedule times from Neil Island and Portblair. Tourist generally prefers private cruises. It is advisable to make advance booking of the cruises.  If the weather condition is not good, then cruises did not sail.

The best time to visit Havelock Island is from October to April. The temperature during these months ranges between 15 to 35 Degree Celsius. This temperature is ideal for visiting Havelock and nearby beaches. June to September is the monsoon season and should be avoided due to heavy rainfall. You may face cyclones or strong winds in the monsoon season. The watersport activities are not conducted in unfavorable weather conditions.   The month of May also is avoided. Etymology Of Havelock Island

Havelock Island was named after the British General Sir Henry Havelock who served India. It was renamed by the Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi in 2018 as Swaraj Island as a tribute to the Sabha Chandra Bose. Subhas Chandra Bose has hoisted the flag at Port Blair on 30 December 1943.
